The Grade 11 Media Arts classes created self portraits that connected to the principle of hybridization. The students had to use a photograph of themselves, and then combine traditional art (sketches, watercolour paintings…) with their photographs. Each portrait is a representation of who the artist is as a person. Here is the result:
RND Artists says welcome to a brand new group of digital artists this semester! Displayed below are the most recent pieces of art created by the new Grade 11 Media Arts classes. The students created themed photo sets, each quadrant having it’s own colour scheme. Take a look!
Media Art students were given the freedom to create a piece of digital art of their choice for their final project in the course. Below is a sample of some of the incredible pieces the students created.
Rachel Hall has developed into a great photographer. She paired her photos with some of her favourite poetry.
Claire Beazeley experimented with 360 degree panoramic photography techniques and created the series below.
Shannon McCarthy used some of the photos she took on the school trip to Europe to create an interesting polaroid style piece that she then turned into an interactive jigsaw puzzle.
Kriscia Acosta was inspired by the Pop Artists of the 1960’s and created digital drawings of Lana del Rey in the style of Roy Lichtenstein.
Gr. 11 students studied typography and created a motivational quote poster. Check out some of them below.
It’s amazing what can be produced when you’re given full creative freedom! Students created a media project of their choice to cap off the semester. The type of technology and the theme was up to them. The students really blew this project out of the water and came up with some incredible ideas. Here are a few samples of work…

Gr. 11 Media Art students learned how to use the program Sculptris and sculpted their own 3D characters.
The period one Gr. 11 Media Art class illustrated the poem ‘In Flander’s Field’. Each student was responsible for creating a photomontage for each line of the poem. Click on the first image below to view the gallery.

Gr. 11 Media Art students completed a unit on typography. They selected a favourite quote and created a poster in Adobe Illustrator.
