Gr. 11 Media Art Culminating Projects

Media Art students were given the freedom to create a piece of digital art of their choice for their final project in the course.  Below is a sample of some of the incredible pieces the students created.

Rachel Hall has developed into a great photographer.  She paired her photos with some of her favourite poetry.

Claire Beazeley experimented with 360 degree panoramic photography techniques and created the series below.

Shannon McCarthy used some of the photos she took on the school trip to Europe to create an interesting polaroid style piece that she then turned into an interactive jigsaw puzzle.

Gr. 12 Media Arts Class Learns to Screen Print

Media Arts students took a trip down the road to Acme Screen Printing and Embroidery to watch the winning design from the Grad T-Shirt Design Contest be printed onto shirts for our graduating students.  George Merjavec, owner of Acme, showed the students how to transfer Emily Raite’s design from the computer, to a stencil, to a commercial screen and finally onto the shirts.  Students were able to try their hand at printing using the commercial equipment.  The shirts should be ready for distribution in homerooms on Friday, June 14th.

CAPPA Awards

The annual CAPPA Awards were held last night at RND.  Awards were given out to students who exemplify excellence in the Arts.  Many students and parents came out to view the art exhibition by the Visual Art, Media Art and Communications Technology classes which was held an hour before the show began.   The event showcased performances by the Improv Team, Gr. 12 Guitar class and graduating art students who put together a touching medley of songs from the past four RND shows as a tribute and thank you to the RND community for supporting them in the arts over the past four years.  David Redner created a video that was played at the end of the night that showcased all of the great things happening in the Arts at RND.  The night was an incredible success and congratulations go out to all of the nominees and award recipients.
