Grade 12 Photography Portfolios

The Gr. 12 Media Arts class was given the task to take creative photos under a theme to create a portfolio. They were challenged to do only minimal Photoshop edits allowing the photography skills to shine through, but were given creative freedom on one photo to explore fun adjustments on Photoshop. Take a look at a few of the portfolios!

Grade 12 Photoshop Skills

As a refresher for the Grade 12 Media Arts class, students created a project about themselves that expressed some of their interests while also regaining familiarity with Photoshop.

Grade 11 Students Explore Colour

The new Grade 11 Media Arts classes created themed pieces that focused on colour. Each quadrent has a different colour scheme creating a cool and interesting effect. Take a look!

A Few Encouraging Words

To culminate their typography unit, the grade 11 Media Arts classes created posters featuring their favourite inspirational quotes. The students used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator skills to create these pieces.

Gr. 9 Art Display

The Grade 9  “Aboriginal Arts & Culture”  classes of 2013-2014 have set up a gallery display at the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board Office in Napanee (141 Dairy Ave, Napanee).  Students and parents are encouraged to drop in and view the great display of artwork!

Cake Week

This past week, RND’s grade 12 Food and Nutrition Classes participated in an annual course event, Cake Week. The students teamed up into groups and created a cake to enter in a class competition. The winners were chosen on May 8th, by a secret voting conducted by students from the rest of the school.

Grade 9 First Nations Beadwork

Beadwork inspired by First Nations weaving and beadwork. Students express personal style and individuality through one of a kind designs and unique, individual colour choices. Weaving looms are used as students become proficient with the same weaving process applied to rug, blanket and belt weavings.

More Than Your Average Photograph

The Grade 11 Media Arts classes created self portraits that connected to the principle of hybridization. The students had to use a photograph of themselves, and then combine traditional art (sketches, watercolour paintings…) with their photographs. Each portrait is a representation of who the artist is as a person. Here is the result:
